Style Spotlight: Nights of Cabiria

I recently re-watched one of my very favorite films, Nights of Cabiria, and once again fell in love with the styling. The film could be construed as a tragic and depressing film about a prostitute in Rome, but the optimistic and often child-like nature of the main character, Cabiria (played by Giulietta Masina), throughout all of the hardships she experiences keeps the mood stays quite light. The set and styling is absolutely essential to the story (as it is with most Fellini films), the characters are outfitted so perfectly you would swear that they were real. I particularly love the styling of Cabiria; black and white stripes, hourglass shapes, flat mary janes, the iconic feathered cropped jacket, it suits her so well.
